I’m such a sucker for anything mythology and these past years, I’ve been looking for new books that have that concept. Here’s some of my favourites in this list !
IF YOU LIKE GREEK MYTHOLOGY
CIRCE BY MADELINE MILLER
I love this book with all my hearts, it has been featured in a lot of my lists but I will repeat it again : it’s a must read haha. If you like greek mythology with an excellent storytelling and empowering yet vulnerable and raw main protagonist. You go for this one.
IF YOU LIKE NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
is one of the funniest retellings of the Norse Mythology that I have read so far. It’s quite short, sweet and weird as Norse Mythology tends to be pretty.. exaggerated haha.
IF YOU LIKE ARABIAN MYTHOLOGY
City of Brass is one my favourite read this week and I cannot wait to write a full review on this book. But to not spoil the review too much, this book feels like reading with the beautiful prose of Strange The Dreamerand the magical feeling of Mistborn and Vicious.
IF YOU LIKE RUSSIAN MYTHOLOGY
The Bear and The Nightingale by Katherine Arden is just so beautiful to read on a cold night with a hot chocolate in my hands. I learned so much about Russian fairytales and the enchanting world of their folklores. Honestly, no words can really describe the feeling of this book and do it justice. You might as well see it for yourself.

IF YOU LIKE AFRICAN MYTHOLOGY
Children of Blood and Bone is BY far one of my faves of all the books on this list. Such a unique setting and cast, the magical system is so vibrant and colorful. I devoured this book in 2 days and did not regret it. But underneath all the fantasy aspect, the real theme is racism and oppression. It’s raw, it’s brilliant but it can be pretty violent too. The inspiration of the author was West African Mythology and Yoruba culture and language.
