Reading Slump is one of the worst phenomenon ever and unfortunately.. IT HITSME.
I always heard people saying that there are some periods in their lives where they don’t have time to read anymore and it slowly becomes a habit and they just stopped reading… Okay I haven’t hit that point in my life yet but I can feel reading is becoming less and less present in my life and that’s only because I’ve read a few books lately that didn’t hook me in yet. Here are a few things I did to overcome it and please share with me your tricks as well!
GRAPHIC NOVELS
Thanks to this Reading Slump, I have rekindled my love for Graphic Novels haha. I recently read Wonder Woman The Omnibus by Phil Jimenez. I’ve always been a big fan of Wonder Woman and seeing her in all of these stories, being the bad-ass she is, and with so many original storylines and origin stories inspired me to be the best I can be.

Okay y’all must be like.. Trang give us something lighter than a freaking Omnibus for reading slump LOL I GOTCHA. Here a few of my favourite graphic novels : Rat Queens, Paper Girls, The Wicked + The Divine, Bombshells, etc.

POETRY BOOKS
They’re fun to read and what’s nice is they’re also super short! I think romance is a bit overdone in nowadays modern poetry, therefore, I will recommend the ones that talk about life and its struggles, our identities more than recent breakups: the princess saves helrself in this one by amanda lovelace, Fierce Fairytales: Poems and Stories to Stir Your Soul by Nikita Gill, Discipline by Jane Yeh (soon to be released in May 2019) and Teaching My Mother How To Give Birth by Warshan Shire.

GOING BACK TO YOUR GO-TO GENRES
I noticed that when I go back to Fantasy or Science Fiction, it re-sparks that mood for reading. I think it’s because the two genres allow me to escape the mundane world and dive into another reality, completely different from ours. I recently finished The Hod King by Josiah Bancroft and omg, what a wonderful read and series. Josiah has successfully created one of the most memorable trilogies of all times, with a lot of references to other fantasy stories but with an unexpected twist and character development.

That’s it for today’s tips! What else would you add to this list? Let me know in the comments below 😀
