Fantastic Beasts 2 : The Crimes of Grindelwald

I was so excited when I first entered the movies theatre to watch this movie. I’ve been waiting so long to see what they have in store for this second part of Fantastic Beats.

We followed what Newt Scamander left behind after his journey in New York. Everyone now knows that Credence is an Obscures and have to get apprehended before Grindelwald gets to him. Rumors are that Credence is now in a circus in Paris. Therefore, all the story is set up in one of the most beautiful cities of the world : PARIS ❤ .

It’s kind of funny seeing Paris under the lens of the Wizarding World. It’s cute but not as quite magical as the first one. We still see some scenes of Newt chasing after the fantastic beasts but the whole storyline is focused on the descendent family of Credence, the Lestrange family and Grindelwald.

I can understand why some people were disappointed in the movie but I think we have to keep in mind that this series would offer a darker storyline than the usual. It’s what set up the famous Grindelwald and his final battle with Albus Dumbledore.

This sequel of Fantastic Beasts feels more like an introduction to a greater story, it left me with more questions than answers. Although, some scenes allow new fans to understand the connection between the characters.Of course, I enjoyed seeing Tina and Newt Scamander on screen haha they’re one usual romance on screen.

Love Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore!

One of my favourite scenes is when they gave us a flashback to Newt Scamander’s life in Hogwarts. The castle form architecture, the different houses and all the nostalgia. There’s this mysterious feeling seeing Hogwarts with new characters, new students. Like I would expect Hermione or Ron popping up and Malfoy scolding around but no. It’s kind of weird, isn’t it ? How I will always miss the Harry Potter world.

Have you watched it yet?

What did you think about ?

I watched it and enjoyed it. I did think the title was wrong. There were hardly any ‘crimes’. So excited to see what more is in store. And that climax! WOW. Though that means Rowling will have to answer a lot more questions.

LOL OH DAMN YOURE RIGHT. The title is Misleading. It should be like.. The origins of Lestrange or something 😂😂 THAT ENDING LEAVES ME SO CONFUSED. What’s you’re hypothesis🤔

I am just hoping Rowling doesn’t mess up this new twist and timelines in the next movie. Hope she has really thought this through

I’m seeing the film this week 🙂

Just finished reading and reviewing the screenplay – didn’t impress me much though :/ I can’t see myself loving the film due to the issues I’ve got with the screenplay, but I’m looking forward to seeing the wizarding world of Paris and the powers of Grindelwald.

LOL I didn’t read the screenplay but oh yes I can definitely see how it was disappointing.. And confusing ? 🤔🤔 The characters brought the concepts to. Life but some of them were still mad WTF to me. Although I love the magic, fantastic beasts and anything about Hogwart😍

I was initially excited to see this movie despite the controversy surrounding it, however, I’ve read a spoiler about the ending and now I have no intention of seeing it. Either it’s going to be a twist that messed up the canon, or it will be a bait to watch the next movie, I’m not sure which one is worse :/

LOL I wasn’t ready for that twist. What did you read and do you think you’ll watch the other movies too?

Yeah there have been so many negative things from the critics, but my friends have enjoyed it so I’m hopeful. I’m going to see it tonight actually and I can’t wait! 😀 ❤️

I didn’t care much for this movie or the previous one. I just don’t see the point in exploring this part of the Harry Potter world. It was a school book, for heaven’s sake xD Stop milking the franchise to exhaustion! (Get me a Marauders one, dammit!)
Though I do have to say I love the creatures and Leta was pretty cool. But otherwise, eh. I almost fell asleep at the cinema. Things only picked up about halfway through and even then, I’m really not sure what to think.
    Great review, though! 🙂

HAHAH I Totally get it. My rational side is telling me THIS franchise is only trying to make money and unfortunately it works pretty well on me 😂😂 Leta actress performed so well 😊

Good review. I think this film is a total disaster. Messy and almost pointless (if not for the films still to come). The revelation in the end is silly, and my biggest issue with Depp playing Grindelwald is that there is no subtlety to the character.

Ah cool it’s set in Paris!! It’s good to know it’s more setup than story. Still looking forward to this one! Going back to hogwarts sounds really cool- but you’re right, it’s probably odd without the old crew! Great review!
