I recently did a Top Graphic Novels post and I got asked on Instagram to maybe list my recent Top YA Novels. It’s a good occasion to share with you my coup de coeur that I haven’t got the chance to review yet.
MUSE OF NIGHTMARE BY LAINI TAYLOR
The sequel to Strange The Dreamer, one of my most anticipated read of the year. I felt like I love Strange The Dreamer so much that the ending was way too disappointing. The sequel filled that gap and really made me see what was missing in the end of the first novel. Great storyline, the characters get even more attaching and as always, a fabulous storytelling by Laini Taylor.
SMOKE IN THE SUN BY RENEE AHDIEH
Again, gladly enjoyed the first novel which was Flame In The Mist. I didn’t have much expectations for this duology but it was so satisfying. I thought the story built up nicely and ended admirably. A very engaging novel and slightly less romantic which suits my liking. We get to discover new characters and they are as interesting as the ones we encountered in the first book.
ODD ONE OUT BY NIC STONE
After Dear Martin, Nic Stone has been on my author watch-list. Odd One Out delivers as much as Dear Martin did for me : powerful and raw. We follow several lives that get intertwined with each other through some real lives events. The thing is, life is messy and chaotic and this book is all about that. Exploring sexuality with wit and humour and some delicate subjects on the way.
THE GIRL IN THE TOWER BY KATHERINE ARDEN
I have been meaning to write a full review of this book for so long. It deserves all the hype it can get because it was beautiful and enchanting in every single way. Russian folklore and fairytales combined with a rich storytelling. I don’t want to spoil too much for I will be sure write a review on this book and its sequel.
VENGEFUL BY V.E SCHWAB
Last but not least, the sequel I’ve been waiting for more than 3 years !! This Vicious Sequel is way too precious. I adored Vicious with all my heart and to get together with the characters and the dark universe of V.W Schwab is like meeting with an old friend: the sweet memories revisited over a coffee.
