Damn what an original title 😀
March feels like the devil’s gift with all the movies coming out in theatres. I can imagine a group of managers and producers just gathering around and decide that the month where all the students need to concentrate and ace their finals will the perfect month for releasing all the exciting movies there is.

I watched at least one movie per week, so 4 movies in total the whole month. Everyweek, there was a new movie coming out. It’s crazy!
Without further due, here are the movies I wil be reviewing today:
1.LOGAN
4.5/5
Lashaan did an amazing post at reviewing the movie here, so I won’t be adding anything else. HAH joke joke. So for those who haven’t seen Logan yet, well.. GO AHEAD. Cauz I will be spoiling the hell out of it in this post. LET’S TALK ABOUT LAURA. I think this little girl deserves all the 5 stars in the world. I mean, she succeeds in bringing Wolveriney vibe while being a little puppy. Kick-ass professionnal check! My favourite aspect of the movie was Logan and his relation with Laura. Both have difficult in loving someone else but both have pratically lived the same thing: they were lab rats and ending up loosing everyone around them so they are afraid to get attached. The relationship between them was amazingly portrayed and THAT SCENE made me cry sooo much T_T

2.BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

4.8/5
*Warning: the reviewer died of excitement and won’t be able to continue the post*
Okay but seriously. You need some emotional and social context here.
I’ve been growing up loving everything from Disney, so I learned every song by heart and I love singing . I would spam everyone around me with Mulan’s lyrics to Ariel’s KISS A GIRL. So can you imagine the first scene in Beauty and The beast that they start SINGING?! OMG .I JUMPED. #IDGAF who was watching me. Who’s not a fan of Emma Watson? Since Hermione, she showed the world that there’s not a thing she can’t do. Singing check ! 😀 She sang very good for a starter. We can see that the lip sync scene she was kind of off from everybody else but it was to be expected.
THE VISUAL IS WORTH EVERYTHING. I don’t care if you are an anti- Disney capitalist kind of person, you need to see this movie to appreciate AT LEAST the BEAUTY they’ve made with today’s technologies. IT’S MAGICAL. The creative team, chapeau!
The only downside with this movie is probably the romance, maybe because it was a computer generated imagery, but I didn’t feel the chemistry between the Beast and Belle.
3.KONG

4/5
4/5 ?? REALLY TRANG? Yes *SHOCK*. I didn’t hate that movie. I think it was a great movie for the action and don’t come and tell me that Kong needs some deeper themes. Remember Kong, the original concept of that movie. Yeah. I think they did a pretty good job in reflecting an action movie. The visual again, was amazing 😀 They really went to the roof with the CGI especially that fight scene between Kong and the SkullCrawler (?) ❤ A wink to Nature vs Humans too, the same theme with Planet Of Apes. The principal reason why I went with 4/5 is .. the absence of romance. THANK GOD THEY DIDN’T MAKE KONG FALL IN LOVE WITH THE GIRL. 😀 Oh and.. Loki was pretty useless tbh.

4. THE GHOST IN THE SHELL

4.5/5
I watched the orignal movie and I loved it. This remake is a remarkly well done adaptation of the anime movie with some iconic scenes from the original. As for the white-washing controversy I have to say that it is irrelevant to the storyline. Like the Japanese director himself stated: “The name ‘Motoko Kusanagi’ and her current body are not her original name and body, so there is no basis for saying that an Asian actress must portray her. Even if her original body (presuming such a thing existed) were a Japanese one, that would still apply.”
People need to stop pinpointing race controversy every fckn where. The concept of Ghost in The Shell is in a futuristic city, mixing Japanese and Western culture and most importantly : humans vs androids. The real identity issue. It’s not even about race anymore. It’s bigger than that. While people are fighting over there for asian vs white people, Mamoru Oishii reminds everyone that his movie is about another entity above us. The ones we created ourselves. Our better selves. The artificial selves.
I think the plot was very well done considering all the plot holes in the original movie. I was kind of sad that they didn’t adapt the Puppet Master but I can understand why.
That’s it for today 😀 I know people always tell me that I’m too nice on movies review but HEY WHAT DO YOU WANT I appreciate all the little things life can give me 😉
