After this little fangirling moment, you will probably wonder: “GOD THIS REVIEW IS BIASED BY HER ADORATION FOR LIlLY”. Alright. Don’t get me wrong but even if it’s my favourite celebrity on Earth, I wouldn’t be dishonest and lie about a book if it’s mediocre (#bookidote oath).
BUT THIS BOOK IS GOLD. Just when I needed it the most, reading this book is like having Lilly near you as a friend and a supporter to reassure you and guide you through your life. I believe we all learn best from our own experience and this memoir a personal coach speaking from her own experience and the result is amazing.
The writing? TOTALLY HONEST TO HER STYLE. It’s funny, witty and familiar. She doesn’t need to pretend to be someone else, speaking like Shakespeare or whatever. She goes straight to the point and backs up her advice with her own examples and experience.
It’s like a voyage into yourself that you’ve been delaying for years because you didn’t know where to start. Well you start with this book right here. Lilly reminds us that even though she reached stardom, she was still an ordinary person like all of us. She started from the bottom and people tend to forget that. So her problems and tips are easy to relate to. Dealing with your impulse, with hatred and arrogant people, how to not procrastinate, and my favourite thing ever.. SHE MADE A LOT OF GAME OF THRONES REFERENCES
The book itself is very pretty. Simple and minimalist. The messages are there right in your face, it’s strong and it makes me want to frame every page of this book if I could. One of my favourite tip from her is: “Be Secretive”. She gives really funny examples but in the end the key is don’t expose your success too much or too loud. Keep your keys to success and be humble. It’ll be more rewarding because if you don’t, people can use it to their advantages and turn them into weakness.
The organization is very clear, the pictures are amazing (Hooray to you Lily for taking the time to endure all the makeup and photo-shoots 😀 ). It’s definitely a new side of Superwoman that we don’t get to see often on Youtube videos.
It’s a book I would reread because it can apply to so many periods of my life. It’s a lifestyle like never before because, instead of dictating your behavior, Lilly does what she does best: she makes us laugh while guiding us through our own obstacles.
