Hi everyone!❤️

I’ve been gone for a while! Hope everyone is doing good, and your summer has been filled with love and joy.

But now I’m officially back to my reading blogging for the Fall 😀 To start with, I must express that Fairy Bargain Prospect Hill was a literary work that did not meet my expectations, prompting me to reflect on the time I spent reading it. While it has garnered some commendation for its endeavor to blend historical fiction with fantasy, my personal experience led me to perceive it as a somewhat monotonous and, ultimately, forgettable piece.

In the early 1900s, two sisters must navigate the magic and the dangers of the Fae in this enchanting and cozy historical fantasy about sisterhood and self-discovery.

There is no magic on Prospect Hill—or anywhere else, for that matter. But just on the other side of the veil is the world of the Fae. Generations ago, the first farmers on Prospect Hill learned to bargain small trades to make their lives a little easier—a bit of glass to find something lost, a cup of milk for better layers in the chicken coop.

One discerning reviewer on Goodreads assigned it a 2 out of 5 stars rating, noting an “intriguing premise” that, in their view, did not live up to its potential. I wholeheartedly concur with this sentiment. The initial allure of the narrative quickly dissipated into a lackluster plot that meandered aimlessly, leaving readers with an unsatisfying reading experience. The possibility of creating a captivating fusion of history and fantasy was not fully realized, resulting in the narrative falling short of its inherent promise.

Another reviewer from One Book More echoed my sentiments by describing the book as unique, but they too lamented the frustrating nature of the plot and the characters. Frustration appears to be a recurring theme in the critiques of this work, and I can attest that it accurately encapsulates the reader’s experience. The characters’ actions not only proved exasperating but were also inadequately developed, making it challenging to form a connection with or develop any empathy for their fates.

The story takes an excruciatingly long time to build any semblance of tension or excitement, and when it finally does, the stakes are so inconsequential that one is left questioning the rationale for investing time in this purported fantasy novel.

In summary, “Fairy Bargain Prospect Hill” might find resonance with a select audience willing to overlook its lackluster plot and characters in favor of its unique premise. Nonetheless, for those seeking a captivating and exciting fantasy novel, this book is likely to fall short of expectations. It is a regrettable read that does not fully realize its potential.
