Just a girl obsessed with books and movies sharing her thoughts.

MY RATING: ★★★

“There’s nothing so painful, so corrosive, as suspicion.”

Goodreads blurb :

“EVERY DAY THE SAME
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck.

UNTIL TODAY
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough.”

I was hesitant in giving a review of this book because I don’t know how to rate this book in the first place.

For this occasion, I’m going to make it real simple by listing all the pros and cons of this book.

Was it worth all the buzz? NAH.

I have hope that the movie is actually going to be better than the book (WHAT?! How is that even possible with a novel? )

Well yes. With this one.

It has Emily Blunt as the main actress ❤ #ENOUGHSAID

Finally, the most important part of every psychological thriller : the plot twist.

This one has BARELY one in the end. It was pretty obvious who the murderer was (they even put a clue in the movie trailer if you pay attention). If you read my rating system, you know that the plot twist in the end is what makes me rate a novel more than 3 stars.

Overall? Big MEEH. Felt like reading a cheap version of Gone Girl with less intensity and an unstable foundation. I feel like reading about someone else’s lives that I have no interest knowing about it.

Finally someone who understands me! I must confess I absolutely loved the beginning. I thought it could end up being extraordinary, but somehow… it didn’t. It grew into something else entirely and I just couldn’t help but feel like something was missing… I guess my high expectations (why would anyone compare anything to ‘Gone Girl’?) played a big part on building this little road to disappointment. Sigh.

Anyway, I truly believe the movie has everything to be better. Keeping my fingers crossed because I do love Emily Blunt ❤️
