Fangirl : ★★★★☆
“In new situations, all the trickiest rules are the ones nobody bothers to explain to you. (And the ones you can’t Google.)”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl
Have you ever wondered if there was anybody like you, sitting in a room, in front of a book, obsessing over some characters so much that you wish you could write a different story about them ? That’s the magic of fanfictions, that’s the magic of imagination. Fangirl is all about that: questioning the authenticity of fanfiction. I think we all need to sit down and realize how the world has changed, how information and stories are becoming more and more accessible, how there are different ways to express our creativity and how in all art, there’s an inspiration somewhere. You have to start somewhere. That’s why I am completely open about fanfiction being a genre and I strongly encourage it.

“Just... isn't giving up allowed sometimes? Isn't it okay to say, ‘This really hurts, so I’m going to stop trying?’” “It sets a dangerous precedent.” “For avoiding pain?” “For avoiding life.” ― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl
Okay, back to the story! In sum, Fangirl is about Cath, an awkward teenager who has to survive college without her twin for the first time in her life. Rainbow Rowell triumphs in making her character really likable and relatable. She likes to stay in her bubble, write and read. Here’s an introvert’s journey with all the challenges and benefices : from discovering love, trying to fit in while continuing to write her stories as well. Not for one second, never has she ever stopped being herself ! YES. Probably the most beautiful part in this novel ! So people, always stay true to yourself.

I found this book really enjoyable because for the first time, it addresses the fandom reality. We are constantly bombarded with news about a celebrity being pregnant or caught in some naughty drama, but what about the fans side of it ? Rainbow Rowell made it our cause, our perspective. The book truly sympathized those who give so much of their lives to it and is dedicated to the flourishing culture of fandom. Let’s be real, without us (the fans) there are no goals for the celebrities.

That aside, I want to give a big thank you to Lashaan, my lovely boyfriend for writing posts during my absence, he did an amazing job at keeping the blog active 🙂 It was my birthday yesterday and for that occasion, I got the chance to go to a trip to Toronto these past few days to see Big Bang ( k-pop band, thumbs up if you know who they are! ) and when I just came back from it, there were midterms waiting for me, so I’ve been pretty busy. Thank you so much for sticking around , love you all ! ❤ ❤
